The Weather Outside is Frightful - Stuffing For Brains

Stuffing For Brains

But the hat and scarf are sooo delightful.

I'd been looking for a good pattern for a hat for a while, but having trouble, because I don't actually like hats very much. I was frustrated till my friend showed me this pattern from I liked it right away, so I made it my project for the September Church of Craft meet up.
The hat is convertible, so it can be either a hat or a cowl. Or a hat that you can pull your hair through. If you look at the pattern, the girl who made it models her own hats in all the styles that you can wear it.

I really liked the way the brim of the hat was made, because it switches off between front post and back post double crochet stitches, so you get this really cool ribbed effect, which is very soft and squishy. Because I loved the color of this yarn so much and the brim of the hat, I went ahead and made myself a scarf to match. It's extra long, too, and I love to wear it.

The yarn is, I think, my favorite yarn to date. Caron Simply Soft Eco, Ocean. Caron's Eco yarn is made 100% from recycled bottles, but it's seriously soft. Their Eco colors are also really awesome.

I made these items in September of 2009.
