Stuffing For Brains

So, working in a library, I get to see all sorts of neat new craft and crochet books that come in. This one came in just before Halloween, called Witch Craft by Margaret McGuire and Alicia Kachmar. In it, was this cute knitted spider, which I was sad about, because I can't knit. Well, not like that. There was also this really adorable Good Witch pattern by Sayjai of K and J Dolls. So my boss, who knits, and I, who crochet, decided to make the spider and witch and trade. The pattern is pretty easy to follow, but once you get to the head, it sorta feels like it takes ages.

I was really pleased with how it turned out! I did make one mistake... which made it so her body was technically on backwards, but you wouldn't be able to tell. Basically, though, if you do it right, you won't end up with that hitch in colors on the neck that my doll has. As a side note, I never put mouths on anything I make, not since the first octopus I made.

I just wanted to add this little picture. I think it's adorable the way the hands are made on this doll. They have LITTLE THUMBS!

It's so cute and not as hard as I expected it might have been.

Yarn for this project!

Caron Simply Soft: Bone (for skin) Black (hat and dress), Soft Pink (socks).
Caron Simply Soft Collection: Passion (hair)

I used a G/6 hook and the doll turned out about 5 or 6 inches tall, not including the hat.

I went to an October craft group meeting and had to think of something befittingly Octobery to make, so I went with a winged pattern of little ghosties!

I made it up as I went along, then had to recreate it twice more! :X The only difference between the three is that one has big eyes, one has little eyes and one has o_O wonky eyes.

The wonky eyed one is my favorite. :)

These ghosts were completed in October of 2009. Also, after this, all of the amis should be posted in real time, as they're finished.
